Lucia Votano was the director of the Gran Sasso underground laboratory of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics.

They will be present Luigi Contu, journalist and director of ANSA, Claudio Cappon former director general of RAI and professor at the master's degree in "European Public Media", SciencesPo Paris, Gianluca Mori, editorial director of the Carocci publishing house and of the author herself.Votano_IlFantasmaDellUniverso

This popular book uses clear yet rigorous language to address a highly topical issue in subnuclear physics and astrophysics research, namely neutrinos.

Well before light, one ten-thousandth of a second after the Big Bang, neutrinos appeared

in the universe. After a second, the primordial soup had cooled enough to allow them to move freely, and even today, after nearly fourteen billion years, they are still abundant. But what are neutrinos? Elusive as ghosts, chameleonic, they travel unharmed through matter, arriving straight to us from the most remote and hidden corners of the universe.

To illustrate their characteristics, the author follows the physicists who study them in underground laboratories or in extreme places such as polar glaciers or the ocean depths, and the book can be defined as a scientific “Grand Tour” in search of neutrinos.

We hope to see many of you there
