Buriano Buriano is a characteristic medieval village in the Tuscan Maremma, part of the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia (GR). The town sits on Poggio Arcione and is surrounded by other villages with Etruscan traditions and captivating histories. Each of these towns is rich in stories and events waiting to be rediscovered and re-evaluated. Today, strolling through Buriano, one is struck by the calm and beauty of the landscape, which is literally breathtaking. The silence, therefore, is a consequence of the astonishing view but also represents a moment of latency. The tales of the castle's secret corners, the stories of Buriano's families, the legends of dragons, and the miracle of the barlette—all waiting to be reborn, rediscovered, rehearsed, and shared.

The Buriano community is present and active, ready to welcome visitors or curious neighbors. In fact, a project has been underway for a few months now. “Widespread Tourist Reception” In the Buriano area, promoted by the municipality, the project aims to enhance the village's tourism potential by leveraging its architectural, real estate, historical, and cultural heritage. The residents are the central focus of the project, and indeed, entrepreneurs and fellow villagers have voluntarily joined together. In Buriano, today, people are rethinking the meaning of living in a community and being an active part of it, and the focus is on how to communicate and promote this existential model.

Outdoor

A guided trek in the footsteps of Saint William of Malavalle, immersed in the woods of Castiglione della Pescaia.

A tale of history, archaeology, legend, and tradition, where the sacred and the profane blend together in a setting that characterizes these places in Maremma.

On our way we will encounter the remains of the Lorraine aqueduct and finally reach the Malavalle Monastery, where depending on the time of year, we will be able to discover whether the eyehole located in the vault of the church actually projected a ray of light onto the altar during the summer solstice.

The 5 km route is easy to followHiking shoes or sneakers, sunscreen, a hat, and water in hot weather are required.

Maremma Tradition 

Experiences with Maremma cows, Maremma horses, and cowboys.

Horse grooming and harnessing activities, making a cowboy's hook, helping shoe a horse. Opportunity to pet the animals.

Ox cart rides. Demonstrations of the buttero's work. Calf herding.

Tastings of local and organic products produced on the farm. Direct sale of 100% ancient grain pasta and 100% ancient grain flour (produced strictly with grains grown in our fields).

Art and Sculpture

Maremma, a region that unites art and nature: Rodolfo Lacquaniti's garden. bioarchitect, is the artist who created and created Return Journey, a reverse path towards the reality of the genetic code.

Languages of total contemporary art: installations, video art, painting, performance, music, photography, words, gestures, live arts, poetry and offers a reflection on the consumer society.

Cooking Class

Our cooking school lessons complete the experience at the Locanda , involving you in what is an essential element of Italian life: cuisine.
Over the years we have developed fun lessons where the guest can learn some special dishes with the help of chef Elisa.
You can learn the methods of preparing handmade pasta or a Maremma recipe, from appetizer to dessert.
The experience ends with a delicious lunch of dishes cooked in the garden accompanied by a good local wine.

Artisan Workshop

Theoretical and practical course to learn the weaving techniques and make baskets and small baskets. 

Every week in the centre of the village of Buriano we meet with the master craftsman for learn this ancient tradition in which the collection and the methodology of the plot are described.

The experience is suitable for all adults and children,  Lorenzo Lucentini of Legno d' olivo artisanal creations will deliver us the work kit (scissors, knife, wooden ruler)Family experience free activity for children. 

Laboratory with Nature

This little laboratory of herbal medicine and natural cosmetics The aim of this course is to teach participants the fundamentals of home preparation of two basic herbal remedies and some personal care products, primarily using the raw materials nature provides.

The products will be processed directly in front of the participants who will be able to witness the various stages of preparation.

Experience open to all adults and children. 

The cost includes the materials for preparing the products.

Each participant will go home with some samples of the products made.
