The story of Montieri re-emerges from the excavations for the district heating.
Montieri It is a small medieval village located in the Province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Metalliferous Hills, an area linked since ancient times to a strong mining vocation due to the presence of important metal deposits, especially copper, silver and lead.
Since autumn 2012 the archaeologists of Coopera they are committed to following the excavation carried out for the installation of the network district heating, carefully documenting everything that emerges from the ground.
In collaboration with the Municipality of Montieri we will participate in the national demonstration "The Nights of Archaeology“, organized by the Tuscany Region and now it's arrived in the fourteenth edition.
The evening program, which will take place on July 31, 2014, from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm, provides for a conference in which the results of archaeological research will be presented and a guided tour to the historic center, which will focus on the points of greatest interest that emerged during the archaeological excavations.
There Night of July 31st will serve to expose the challenge that is launched from the heart of the Metalliferous Hills, to demonstrate that the whole Maremma, even the most unknown, is full of landscape and cultural wealth and can provide an unforgettable visit or stay.
For the occasion a new one will be presented Montieri map, made by CoopERA, with indications of the major historical emergencies found.
The card will be distributed to all participants before the guided tour.
