In the heart of our Metalliferous Hills, the morning will be dedicated to an intriguing trek, suspended in the Dantesque scenery of the Biancane Geothermal Park, a place where man tries to catch long breaths of the Earth and where the four elements seem to silently guard the stones of the medieval village of Monterotondo MarittimoAmong rocks of improbable colors and columns of smoke billowing from underground, we will understand how man, over the centuries, has managed to understand and exploit the wild and harsh nature of this territory.

The Diaccia Botrona and the coastal wetlands
An itinerary to discover the beauty and environmental richness of the coastal wetlands that characterise our territory through a visit to the Diaccia Botrona, near the renowned seaside town of Castiglione della PescaiaThe Diaccia Botrona is a protected wetland, established in 1996 and classified since 1971 as a "Wetland of international importance". It is also included in the Site of Community Interest n° 111 and in the Special Protection Area 111B identified as "an area of great importance for the stopping, wintering and nesting of aquatic birds". The symbolic and iconographic heart of the natural area is the Red House Ximenes, a structure designed and built by the engineer Leonardo Ximenes in 1765-68, under Peter Leopold of Lorraine, as part of a systematic reclamation project in the Maremma.
Today, inside, with the assistance of specialized personnel, it is possible to take advantage of an important multimedia museum through which it is possible to observe the flora and fauna present in the nature reserve.

An excursion among the secrets of geology, nature and history of the villages of Sovana And Pitigliano, crossing the ancient Sacred Ways, entirely dug into the tuff, which at the time of the Etruscans They connected the cities of the living with the cities of the dead. A long story that will lead us to discover the fascinating territory of the Tufi, colonized in ancient times by the Etruscan princes and home to the Middle Ages of the residence of the most powerful aristocratic family of the Maremma: the Aldobrandeschi.

The path of the Etruscan craftsmen, perhaps interested in the iron and copper mines of the Half Franco Point; here too the wealth of the noble Roman family of the Domitii Enobarbi, merchants and money lenders, who in Giglio Porto, as in Giannutri and Porto Santo Stefano, built a sumptuous maritime villa. The most powerful family of the Maremma Middle Ages passed through here, the Aldobrandeschi, and still the ships of the Republic of Pisa, the Spanish troops of Alfonso of Aragon; here pirate ships and ships have raged for centuries corsair raids.
