During the summer of 2012 we completed the project of valorization of the archaeological area of Alberti Fortress to Monterotondo Marittimo (GR).
The site had been investigated for many years during our doctoral and postdoctoral work atUniversity of SienaOver the course of six years, approximately 1,000 square meters of surface were excavated in the Rocca degli Alberti area, removing 1,440 cubic meters of earth that had been deposited between the 8th and 20th centuries.
The Municipal Administration of Monterotondo Marittimo (GR), together with Coopera, however, he understood that the biggest challenge was to be able to plan the opening of the archaeological area which had provided very important scientific data for the Middle Ages. A visit method was thus devised that included a journey through time, from the historical emergencies of the 8th century to those of the 14th century.
The archaeologists Coopera has designed and written a few, unobtrusive panels to accompany visitors on this long and fascinating journey.
June 1, 2012, the day of theinauguration of Rocca degli Alberti, the site was full of people and this was our first success!
