THE'Underwater Archaeology<\/strong> will be the protagonist of the great event in preparation for the Spanish Fortress of Porto Santo Stefano<\/strong>, in the Municipality of Monte Argentario.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The December 6, 2015<\/strong> a new find recently acquired by the permanent exhibition will be presented to the public\u00a0Submerged Memories<\/strong> after long years of restoration.<\/p>\n

This is part of the keel of the archaic wreck of the island of Giglio, excavated in the early 80s by the English archaeologist Mensun Bound.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The wreck, coming from the Eastern Mediterranean<\/strong>, carried a wide range of objects, ceramics<\/strong>, raw metals<\/strong>, musical instruments<\/strong>, undoubtedly destined for the Italian or French markets. One night around 600 BC, it sank near Campese beach on the island of Giglio after a fire melted the finds into a mass of tar, either part of the cargo or simply from the ship's wooden planks.<\/p>\n

The exhibition Submerged Memories,<\/strong>\u00a0Set up in the Fortress since 1997, it has been enriched with an important new find, displayed in the room dedicated exclusively to the Archaic era wreck and its very rich cargo.<\/p>\n

The Tuscan saxophonist Stefano Cocco Cantini<\/strong>, after a careful study phase in collaboration with Dr. Simona Rafanelli<\/strong>, Director of the Vetulonia Museum, has reconstructed some copies, allowing us to bring back to life a real lost music<\/em>.<\/p>\n

During the afternoon of the December 6, 2015<\/strong> A concert will be held during which we will be able to hear the sound of those magical notes again. The concert will be followed by the presentation of the documentary "The Lost Music of the Etruscans<\/strong>\u201d by the director from Massa Richard Bicicchi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The event, of great importance for theArcheology<\/strong> of the Monte Argentario<\/strong>, will be held in the Auditorium Hall of the Porto Santo Stefano Cultural Center<\/strong>, in Garden Street<\/strong>, starting at 4.30 pm, was created thanks to the collaboration between theMunicipal Administration of Monte Argentario<\/strong> and the Maremma Museum Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A visit to the rooms of the Exhibition will follow Submerged Memories<\/strong> curated by archaeologists<\/strong> of the company Coopera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
