Archaeology among the desks

Our Archaeological laboratories I am a service specifically designed for nursery schools and the primary schools, with the aim of introducing children to world of archaeology and to guide them to discover the past of man through a stimulating and interactive knowledge path .

The project “Archaeology among the desks” has been tested since 2010 in numerous primary schools in the provinces of Grosseto, Pisa And Livorno.

Our operators, archaeologists, environmental guides and tourist guides, they will also be able to accompany the children in external trips, to get to know the territory and its archaeological resources.

Agreeing with the teachers specific outings relevant to the area of origin and to the school programs, the children will be able to build their own connections between the History, studied in books, and the local history, seen first-hand at a territorial level, in order to build specific critical tools for the discovery of one's own historical and identity roots.

The calendar includes the following workshops:

Let's dig between the desks! An archaeological dig in the classroom

Thanks to a structure specifically designed for this type of activity, students will be able to experience a real archaeological dig.

Let's Draw the Past! Prehistoric Painting Workshop.

A captivating journey through the earliest human artistic expressions, cave paintings, created at a time when humans were beginning to ignite their imagination through fascinating and impressive scenes of large wild animal hunts.

The tour will guide children through the reproduction of the most famous preserved rock art scenes, learning the techniques used to create them.

Let's get our hands dirty! Creative ceramics workshop.

Ceramics is one of humanity's most revolutionary achievements, linked to a period, the Neolithic, which marked the transition from nomadic to sedentary life. The workshop allows students to learn the most ancient techniques of working with clay and producing ceramics, trying their hand at making vases and other artifacts.

“Living in the Past.” Reconstruction of a hut.

The story of the different ways of living in the past, from prehistory to the Middle Ages, will be followed by a real scale reconstruction of a house made of perishable materials, using wood, shrubs, and leaves, and animated by characters drawn by the children themselves.

“Living in the Past.” Reconstruction of a castle.

In our region, so strongly characterized by the presence of medieval villages, our students are guided through the reconstruction of a castle, to scale and using recycled and natural materials (cardboard, wood, shrubs, leaves), to immerse themselves in medieval life and understand the structure and layout of these ancient settlements.

"Our Municipality and its Territory Over Time." A workshop on understanding the municipal territory.

This workshop focuses on discovering the most important archaeological sites in the children's municipality and its main natural resources.
